Daniel D. Lee is the Tisch University Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell Tech and Cornell Engineering. He recently served as global head of AI for Samsung Research.

Lee received his B.A. summa cum laude in physics from Harvard University and his Ph.D. in condensed matter physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was previously a researcher at Bell Labs in the theoretical physics and biological computation departments.

Lee is a visiting scholar at the Korea Institute of Advanced Studies. He organized the U.S.-Japan National Academy of Engineering Frontiers of Engineering symposium and Neural Information Processing Systems conference.

In addition, Lee is a fellow of the IEEE and AAAI. He has also received the NSF CAREER award and the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching. His research group focuses on understanding general computational principles in biological systems and how to apply that knowledge to build autonomous systems.
