Purpose
To ensure a safe and professional environment that supports learning and the health and wellbeing of all campus community members.
Policy
All Cornell Tech community members must adhere to University Policy 4.8 Alcohol and Other Drugs (for Students, Staff, Faculty, and Visitors). Additionally, the following restriction applies to the Cornell Tech campus.
Storage or consumption of alcoholic beverages in common-use areas of nonresidential buildings on campus (i.e. lounges, lobbies, classrooms, laboratories, etc.) is prohibited, regardless of the person’s age, except within the context of University-sponsored events or locations where alcohol is specifically permitted. For example, when purchased and consumed inside the Café @ Cornell Tech under the provisions of our New York State liquor license.
Additionally, in the interest of safety, a university official or member of Cornell Tech Safety & Security may direct the removal and or disposal of alcohol from any campus non-residential location. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action under the appropriate university adjudication process based on the person’s affiliation with the university.
