We're so glad you're considering hosting your event at Cornell Tech! Our team is excited to work with you, support your vision, and make the planning process as smooth and collaborative as possible. Below you’ll find helpful answers to common questions.

What is your scheduling and reservation process?

  • After you submit the event form, a member of our Event Management team will reach out to learn about your goals and discuss next steps.
  • If helpful, we can schedule a site visit or Zoom call to walk through your ideas together.
  • We’re happy to hold space for up to 30 days while details are finalized.
  • Cornell groups receive a quote to review and sign; external groups receive a license agreement.
  • External groups will provide a signed license agreement, a 20% deposit, and a Certificate of Insurance (COI)

 

How do I get to campus?

 

What is the process for bringing a chartered bus onto Roosevelt Island?

  • If your bus is longer than 40 feet, we’ll help get you connected with Roosevelt Island Public Safety so arrival and departure go smoothly.

 

Is there parking on campus?

  • Metered street parking is available around campus.
  • There is also a small parking garage under the Tata Innovation Center.

 

Can I ship items before my event?

  • Yes! You’re welcome to ship items up to one week before your event.
  • Sharing tracking numbers with us will help our mailroom keep everything organized.

 

Is there a size limit on what you can store?

  • We have a shared storage closet suitable for smaller items (17.16’W x 7.04’L = 120.8′ total sq ft.)
  • For larger deliveries, we’re happy to discuss options and help plan ahead.

 

What address should I use for shipping?

  • Event Management at Cornell Tech, (Group/Event Name) + (Event Contact), 2 West Loop Road, New York, NY 10044

 

Can I ship items out after the event?

  • Definitely — just pack your items, attach prepaid labels, and we’ll coordinate carrier pickup.

 

Does the Verizon Center have a loading dock?

  • The building does not have a loading dock, but items can be brought in using carts or hand trucks.

 

How do I arrange load-in for large items?

  • Let us know item dimensions so we can plan together to secure storage space. We have limited room for larger items, but we’re happy to talk through options and outline any related storage costs ahead of time.
  • If a vendor needs to drive onto campus, we’ll arrange access with Cornell Tech Security.

 

How do I arrange load-out?

  • Load-out typically takes place immediately after your event.
  • We’ll help schedule any truck access your team needs.

 

Do you need the names of the attendees?

  • Yes, we ask for attendee names 72 hours before your event so we can prepare badges. However, walk-ins may be brought through security with your approval!

 

Are walk-ins allowed?

  • Yes — with your approval. A member of your team should accompany them to security with a valid ID.

 

What if I have a VIP or elected official attending?

  • We will work with you to determine your attendee’s security needs and, if necessary, inquire about their security detail.
  • If desired, we can schedule a pre-event walkthrough with our security leadership.

 

What is included in the rental?

  • Existing furniture (banquet tables, chairs, stage).
  • Access to all installed audiovisual equipment.

 

How do I connect to Wi-Fi?

  • If you are an external visitor, join the Cornell-Visitor wireless network and follow the registration instructions on the browser window.
  • If you are at an eduroam-participating institution, connect using your home institution’s credentials.

 

Do you have event supplies available?

  • Yes — we offer 11×17-inch standing sign holders, 24×36-inch sandwich boards, acrylic tabletop sign holders, easels, and name badge trays.
