Wen Sun is an assistant professor of computer science at Cornell Tech and the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. His research focuses on machine learning and artificial intelligence. Sun’s group at Cornell works on reinforcement learning and its applications to generative AI and robotics.

Sun has received a best student paper award from the Conference on Uncertainty in AI, an NSF CAREER award on enabling real-world reinforcement learning, a Sloan Research Fellowship in computer science, and Ann S. Bowers Research Excellence Award from the College of Computing and Information Science at Cornell.

Prior to Cornell, Sun was a post-doctoral researcher at Microsoft Research in New York City from 2019 to 2020. He completed his Ph.D. at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in June 2019. He received a master’s degree in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Simon Fraser University and Zhejiang University in 2012.
