Jae-sun Seo is an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Cornell Tech and Cornell Engineering. Until 2023, he was an associate professor in the School of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU).

From 2022 to 2023, Seo was a visiting researcher at Meta Reality Labs. Before joining ASU, he was a research staff member at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and received his B.S. in electrical engineering from Seoul National University.

Seo’s research revolves around efficient Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware design for machine learning and neuromorphic algorithms, as well as hardware-efficient AI algorithm design.

He was a recipient of the IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Award, the NSF CAREER Award, the Intel Outstanding Researcher Award, and the IEEE TVLSI Best Paper Award. He has served on the technical program committees for ISSCC, ESSERC, ISCA, HPCA, MLSys, DAC, DATE, ICCAD, and others.
