Should inventors control the fate of their own inventions? Emmanuel Dumont, a postdoc in the Runway Startup program at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech, posed the question in Nature Nanotechnology. Dumont thinks it’s time that academia embrace the marketplace’s approach to intellectual property.
Contrary to most U.S. universities, the Runway program gives postdocs control over their company in exchange for equity.
