Cornell Tech has appointed Tanzeem Choudhury as its Chief of Health Innovation and has formed a new Health Tech Hub Advisory Committee composed of leaders from across the healthcare industry.
Choudury has served as the director of the Health Tech Hub at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute for five years. She is also the Roger and Joelle Burnell Professor in Integrated Health and Technology at Cornell Tech, the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, and the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute.
In this expanded role, Choudhury will focus on ensuring that Cornell Tech’s academic and research excellence in AI leads to meaningful healthcare impact by guiding students and startups toward pressing healthcare challenges and strengthening alignment across research, entrepreneurship, and health system needs.
“As director of our Health Tech Hub, Tanzeem has been a driving force behind its evolution, consistently demonstrating how rigorous research can be translated into tangible impact for patients and health systems,” said Greg Morrisett, Jack and Rilla Neafsey Dean and Vice Provost of Cornell Tech. “Her appointment as Chief of Health Innovation recognizes not only the breadth of her leadership to date, but also the ambitious direction she is charting for Cornell Tech — building an innovation ecosystem that bridges technology research with clinical care and drives its adoption in real‑world practice.”
Under Choudhury’s leadership, the campus has formed a new Health Tech Hub Advisory Committee to guide the Hub’s efforts to connect cutting-edge research with practical implementation and entrepreneurial activities at the intersection of health and technology.
Reflecting on the committee’s formation, Choudhury emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in driving real progress.
“Tech and AI innovation in healthcare can be complex, and implementation and scaling are even harder,” said Choudhury. “To be successful in our mission to drive healthcare forward, we need input from all stakeholders, ranging from successful startup innovators, policymakers, health system administrators, payors, and investors. We are excited to launch our Advisory Committee, which includes experts from all these areas and leverages our alumni strengths. We will be seeking their guidance and input across research, our entrepreneurship activities, and around thought leadership and external engagement.”
The Health Tech Hub’s leadership team also includes Chethan Sarabu ’09, M.D., who serves as the Hub’s inaugural director of clinical innovation and plays a key role in shaping its strategy and real‑world clinical impact, including its annual Health Tech Summit, which will be held on March 2 and 3.
“At a time of rapid transformation in healthcare driven by AI, this incoming advisory committee brings deep wisdom shaped by experience across government, academia, and industry,” said Sarabu. “Cornell Tech’s Health Tech Hub sits at a unique intersection, grounded in academic rigor while intentionally built for real-world impact, and this group will be essential in helping us thoughtfully guide the large-scale shifts underway in medicine. What excites me most is their shared commitment to responsible innovation, ensuring that transformative technologies translate into meaningful, equitable impact in New York City and beyond.”
