Upcoming changes to the F train will impact your commute to and from Cornell Tech. Starting August 28th to early 2024, subway service will significantly change as the MTA (the public agency that operates the subways) replaces tracks and makes other upgrades serving Roosevelt Island.
What it means: These improvements to the subway infrastructure will benefit our campus over the long term. However, in the meantime, the construction will disrupt regular F train service and inconvenience our day-to-day operations and campus events this semester and into the spring.
What we’re doing: Our leadership is working closely with the MTA to ensure that we have the most up-to-date information so we can adjust our plans accordingly.
What we know: The MTA will operate an F shuttle train that will serve Lexington Av/63 Street, Roosevelt Island, and 21 St-Queensbridge stations. The service is limited to a single-track operation and will operate approximately every 20 minutes. To catch the shuttle train, please wait on the platform for an S-label MTA train to arrive. The Tram and Red Bus services will be updated to accommodate the changes as well. Ferry and MTA bus services will not be affected. Updates from the MTA will be posted immediately to this page.
What’s next: Look out for updates posted on monitors around campus and on this page, and know that we are concerned and in touch directly with the MTA team planning the changes. We will relay updates to the community as soon as we learn more.
Thanks for your patience as we work together to try to minimize the impact of the MTA’s plans on our campus community!
The MTA has launched a dedicated webpage for the project that will be regularly updated. View it here.
