The cat is out of the bag…or museum.

Recent Cornell Tech alumna Emily McAllister, MBA ’15 created a Chrome plug-in called “Meow Met” during an internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art MediaLab.

The plug-in displays a different cat from the Met’s art collection each time you open a new browser tab. The idea behind the project came after she began noticing a lot of cats throughout the exhibits.

McAllister says her time at Cornell Tech helped her to manage the iterative process.

“The importance of rapid prototyping and user testing is one of the first things I learned at Cornell Tech during our Entrepreneurial Intensive,” McAllister said, adding that she built the first early prototype of Meow Met in February and spent the next few months refining and revising before launching the project to the Chrome Web Store.

“I think the positive reception so far has everything to do Cornell Tech’s emphasis on user-centered design,” McAllister said.
