[MUSIC PLAYING] RINA SCHILLER: Our whole world is moving toward technology. If you want to be capable and competent, you need to know what technology is and how technology works. SARAH ARBELI: Learning to code is like learning a new language. LISA PURAN: When you initially just look at the syntax, it looks really foreign. When you get over the initial daunting fear, it's simply just learning how computers talk. MONE SKRATT HENRY: You're able to take an idea and then actually implement it and form something. YASHOMA BOODHAN: There is not just one thing you can do with this. You can apply it to whatever your passion is. BRITTANY GREVE: Too often girls think that I'm not good at science, I'm not good at math, I'm not going to be good at this thing. I saw a challenge and I really wanted to give it my best shot. MEGAN JEAN LOUISE: It hurts a little actually when you want to do something but there's no one else who looks like you. The quest is for us to be seen and heard. RACHEL BAZELAIS: Being at WiTNY has opened up a lot of opportunity to see that there are other women in the room. DINA OWN: Having this female to female connection makes a difference. Inspiring for them and inspiring for me. SHANA LAUDAT: You have access to mentors. You have access to so many people that can push you and point you in the right direction. CHARLES BELTRAN: The students were really curious when they were able to make changes to the code on their own and see the changes real time. That's when their eyes really lit up. RICKY KHARAWALA: It was amazing, being able to teach them how to use a very complex software and create an iPod application. BRITTANY GREVE: I love how it's changing me and making me think differently. Not just like, this is how we're going to code this, but is this what our user wants? Is this going to really work in the real world? It's all about sharing that knowledge and learning and being open to failing and trying again. RINA SCHILLER: The WiTNY program has had a huge impact on my career so far. It got me a great internship at AOL. They said, we want something new, we'll give you the tools, you sit down and you code it. MEGAN JEAN LOUISE: On Saturday I got a call from Microsoft. BRITTANY GREVE: I think it's the best decision I've ever made coming to WiTNY Summer Studio. Because you get to create something together with all these girls that are behind you, backing you. It makes you feel powerful. IN UNISON: [INAUDIBLE] [MUSIC PLAYING]
