ESTRIN: Health Tech is a really exciting and timely program at Cornell Tech; bringing together this very important concern of us all, which is the health of ourselves and our family members and of the community and of the country and technology. POLLAK: The Health Tech program here are Cornell Tech is really about giving students a really strong understanding and background in computer science and then applying that towards the health domain. DELISLE: We're the only place in the world where there's a program that marries both computer science with the ability to solve problems using technologies and healthcare, understanding the entire system and the actors at play. ESTRIN: Students in addition to focusing in their particular technical areas, they work together so they're learning how to do digital innovation in a mixed group that's including MBAs and operations research students and now for the first time, our law students as well. SEN: It's not just about learning about the technologies because you're interested in computer vision or whatever, you're also always thinking about when I'm learning something about healthcare, how is something in my computer science class potentially going to fit in. ESTRIN: In Cornell University, we have a wonderful medical school and very strong interactions with a large hospital system as well at New York Presbyterian, and we really take advantage of that for the Health Tech program. We are preparing students to go and work for hospital systems, health insurance providers, tech providing companies like electronic health companies and the new consumer facing companies like app providers and wearable devices. POLLAK: The opportunity that exists to move into this field, to start new companies, to break new ground at existing companies really is tremendous.
