WiTNY, a partnership between Cornell Tech and CUNY, aims to empower young women to become the next generation of pioneering leaders in entrepreneurship and technology.

This summer, WiTNY will be offering a series of exciting two-week programs called Summer Guild for rising CUNY freshman interested in learning more about how to participate in the digital economy. Students don’t need to have any background or courses in technology or computer science to participate – just an interest in learning more about tech.

The curriculum, which is modeled after Cornell Tech's innovative Studio Curriculum, is focused on digital product development and design through the lens of a real business challenge. Students will learn and use design thinking techniques to work through the product development lifecycle - from conducting user interviews, to brainstorming and building prototypes, to learning basic code. Along the way, they will also get the chance to build alongside professional developers, which is where you come in. Students will develop a paper prototype of their idea and will translate that into a set of high-level functional requirements. You will be assigned to a team to 'code up' their prototype idea. Each team will be assigned two developers to work with.

What to do next if WiTNY’s Summer Guild sounds interesting to you …
