Want to learn what a career in technology can look like and the steps you can take to get there?
WiTNY (Women in Technology and Entrepreneurship in New York) will be offering a two-week program this summer for young women interested in learning more about product development, user-centered design thinking, tools and techniques for brainstorming and product ideation, and the basics of how to write code and develop software – all within the context of a real business challenge. The program will offer students a monetary stipend for participating and is likely to take place in August (exact dates are being finalized).
WiTNY’s ‘Summer Studio’ is modelled after Cornell Tech’s innovative curriculum and will give participants the chance to work with Cornell Tech faculty and alumni. The program will include visits to tech companies in NYC and interactions with real customers associated with this summer’s business challenge. Student teams will partner with professional developers to build solution prototypes. During the two weeks, students will also have the opportunity to talk with representatives from CUNY who can help participants understand the many options at CUNY – from introductory courses, to majors and minors, to special interest groups and clubs – all of which will help participants explore their interests and find a community of like-minded women at CUNY in the fall.
