Ian Folau, MBA ’16, was recently featured on Poets & Quants 2016 Best MBAs list.

Before coming to Cornell Tech, Folau was serving as a Captain and Chief Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army. After graduation he will be leading a different kind of team as CEO and Co-founder of GitLinks, a startup coming out of the Cornell Tech Startup Studio.

Making the shift from public service back to student life wasn’t easy, but Folau appreciated that Cornell Tech pushed him out of his comfort zone.

“Cornell Tech allowed me to work as a business person alongside computer scientists in very real product development context,” Folau told Poets & Quants. “I really enjoyed forming highly skilled teams to build and grow amazing ideas.”

When asked why he chose Cornell Tech, Folau summed it up with three reasons: Cornell University’s extensive alumni network, the program was only one year, and the entrepreneurial slant of the Cornell Tech curriculum.
